ABSTRACT

The research refers to the hydrostatic situation of the area surrounding Burlacu Lake (Romania) taking into consideration the fact that in the immediate vicinity of the lake there is a probes field, Gura Slănic and also two streams, Slănic and Trotuş. To achieve the goal of the research, it was necessary the execution of special works, such as execution of hydro-observation drillings equipped with protective tube and cover used for conducting level measurements and water sampling; surveying of boreholes and their transposition on the situation plan; analyzing existing archive information on previous research conducted in the area; sampling of soil during the development of hydro-observation boreholes for their laboratory analysis in order to determine the lithological structure; performing measurements for determining the water level in the drillings and water sampling for chemical analysis, conducting some pumping testing. Monitoring works reveal on the surface an irregular evolution of the pit configuration. Therefore, if until 2005 the slow dissolvings were followed by spectacular landslides and collapses, after 2005 the development of the pit has stalled. Due to the influx of groundwater that have a quasi-parallel direction of movement to Trotuş riverbed, in the southern wall of Pit Burlacu, at a depth interval from 10.0 to 35.0 m overhangs were formed, which by caliper measurements were located and outlined. Further expansion of the pit will be especially towards the overhangs, reason for which Burlacu Lake represents a risk area.

Keywords: hydro-observation drillings, level measurements, water monitoring, pumping.
