ABSTRACT
Changing the legal provisions relating to the protection of the natural environment and the numerous initiatives related to these issues caused that organic products are becoming increasingly popular. However, not everyone is aware of what the requirements should be met by the products to be treated as organic products. The most important thing is that the production of such products is not burdensome for the natural environment. The aim of this article is to present the definition and regulations of the organic products in Poland and the analysis of the Polish market of such products. At the beginning, organic farming was defined, what made possible to define the organic product itself. The most important legislations on the organic products, which are in force in the Polish market, were listed. It also includes basic statistics on the organic production in Poland. The article is a theoretical introduction to research related to the popularity of organic products among their consumers who live in southern Poland.
