COMPUTER SIMULATION OF POURING CASTINGS MADE OF GRAY CAST IRON

ABSTRACT

Today, foundries need to produce the highest quality of casting for customers. Computer simulation is an important tool for vision of processes which are going in gating system and casting mold filling. These parameters are determined by simulation programs that can provide a suitable shape of the casting,a feeder, a corresponding type of foundry molds or cores, an optimal time for casting, solidification an cooling of casting, determine the structure and characteristics of castings. Contribution is focused on computer simulation as a tool for increasing the use of liquid metal of conrete casting made from gray cast iron. Two suggestions were made of gating system for concrete casting and compared the results of the proposed gating and risers systems. The simulation was made for automatic molding line for casting of gray cast iron. 3D model of casting and gating system was created in CATIA V5. Computer simulation was done in program Novaflow & Solid.
