ANALYSIS OF WATER ACCUMULATION OF THE WASTE DEPOSITED IN A SUBLEVEL DUMP - THE POSSIBILITY OF APPLYING GIS

ABSTRACT
The main aim of this paper was to determine the water content of post-mining waste deposited in the workings of opencast filling sand mine CTL Maczki-Bór in Sosnowiec. A 3D model of the mine was created as part of the paper, i.e. a spatial arrangement of the layers forming it. Among others, three main layers were constructed: elevation map in the area of working, the ordinates map of groundwater table with the mapping of the open-pit drainage system, and a map of the bottom of the open pit reclaimed with waste rock. Based on the obtained layers, two maps were plotted: the depth of the Quaternary water table and the thickness of post-mining waste which is under constant influence of groundwater. The maps obtained from the processing of data in ArcGIS allowed the evaluation of the water content of the deposited waste. Particularly important from the point of view of assessing the impact of the facility on the ground and water environment was to obtain information about the spatial distribution of watered waste, as well as its thickness.
