3D PHOTOGRAMMETRIC MODELING OF THE HISTORICAL MONUMENTS

ABSTRACT
3D photogrammetric modeling uses images of real object attached to the solid model, obtaining a 3D realistic model, easy to be visualized, analyzed and modified. The multiview 3D reconstruction technology allows us to use images no matter the distance between the object and camera, as long as each two images contain common points. Image alignment and generating the 3D model can be done automatically. The 3D models of the historical monuments obtained using photogrammetric modeling techniques are being used in fields like architecture (giving the possibility of project visualization or simulation, reconstruction, rehabilitation or preserving important monuments or buildings), tourism (tourists appreciate points of interest as 3D models, for their high visual impact), or geolocation (promoting the 3D models on online platforms, like Google Earth).
