ABSTRACT
Pollutants from the Bistrita river section Piatra Neamt–Bacau, to the confluence with the river Siret, mainly derive from urban areas located along watercourse. These quantities of pollutants stack with the input from upstream areas of Piatra Neamt and smaller amounts are difficult to quantify because of diffuse sources and historical activities. Quantification of the influence of pollutants on Bistrita river factors affecting this section could be achieved by using a technical base of research that included the results of previous research on this body of water, its systematic monitoring activity and research in the field, as well as data collected from government statistical Siret water basin.
The paper presents the variation of water quality indicators: oxygen dissolved, BOD5, COD-Cr, COD-Mn, ammonium, nitrate, nitrite and total phosphorus, monitored during 1970-2014 in Bistrita river sections: Piatra Neamt section; Roznov section; Frunzeni section; Piatra Neamt - Racova - Zanesti section; Garleni section; Recreational Lake downstream section; Downstream Bacau section.
