ABSTRACT

This paper aims to reflect some concerns regarding the waste management and to
highlight its peculiarities. Waste management methods differ depending on the degree
of development of a country, the type of area (rural, urban, industrial, residential) and
the type of waste. Wastes covered by this article are non-hazardous and hazardous
municipal waste (household and similar waste from commerce, industry and
institutions), in addition with several other specific waste streams: packaging waste,
construction and demolition waste, sludge from wastewater treatment, scrapped vehicles
and electrical and electronic waste equipment. The methods used such as statistical
analysis, comparative studies, historical evolutionary method allowed the authors to
encompass in the overall the phenomenon. This paper is a systematic research of the
phenomenon of authors starting from waste generation, collection and their transport to
the recovery and treatment and disposal of the waste. The analysis done has shown that
waste generation is influenced by a number of factors such as those related to the
evolution of the population, county or changes in the economy and the demand nature
of consumer goods, changes in the production of technologies, etc. This research
requires a deep and comprehensive prospect and the development trends in this field.
