METHOD OF CALCULATION OF THE DRIP IRRIGATION WATER REQUIREMENT OF AN ORCHARDS IN THE MOLDAVIAN CENTRAL PLATEAU

ABSTRACT
The paper presents, firstly, researches and studies undertaken to establish an area of orchards in Moldovian Central Plateau. There are briefly described the results towards the geomorphological, hydrogeology and soil conditions of the investigated area. In the conducted pedologic study it was executed three soil profiles and it was identified three ground units (US1, US2 and US3) for which it was established the classes of suitability for orchard, notes of reliability and if the land is eligible for the establishment of orchards. In this study, it was concluded that the soil fall into Suitability Class II, III and IV for orchard, with predominance of Class II (53.02%). Notes of reliability for orchard use are between 45 and 76 points, placing the analyzed land in quality classes II and III. Regarding notes of natural suitability for crops that are the subject of this study they are over 2.40 and ranging from 2.44 to 2.87. Thus, the land studied is fully eligible for the establishment of plantations without applying potentiating measures of the favorability notes. Water demand for this fruit tree plantation will be provided through a drip irrigation system. The paper presents the calculation of the necessary water for drip irrigation, taking into account the hydro-physic characteristics of the 3 ground units. It is calculated as the volume of soil to be watered by a dropper and the maximum volume of water for irrigation watering only one plant, respectively, for the entire plantation.
