ABSTRACT
This study concerns μCT analysis of Polish Zechstein shallow-sea limestones and dolomites. Analyses were carried out on two kinds of samples (diameter of sample - one inch and 3-5 millimeters) which enabled high spatial resolution (5 and 26μm). The examined rock consists of various biogenic elements, e.g., shell fragments of stromatolites and bivalves. Some sedimentary elements, like lamination, ooides, oncoides and pisoides, were also observed. The stylolites were identified in several samples as a result of diagenetic process. The presented method reveals exact information about the heterogeneity of analyzed samples, which is useful for interpreting the hydrocarbon reservoir sedimentation environment.
