BACKGROUND RIVERS ECOLOGICAL MONITORING IN THE AREA OF THE FUTURE CONSTRUCTION OF PIPELINE

ABSTRACT
The paper deals with the physicochemical study of rivers to reduce a negative environmental impact on them during pipeline construction. To provide a continuous monitoring and to create a database of long-term research before the construction period we examined the prospective construction areas for river crossings. Pipelines and fibre optic cables must cross about 100 waterways. The rivers Sim, Yuryzan, Bolshaya Satka, Kuvash, Ai and Atlyan were of a particular interest for the given research because of their commercial fishing importance. They are salmon fishing rivers and a habitat for Red Data Book species. The physical-chemical parameters of water quality were determined. The rivers Sim, Kuvash, Ai, Atlyan were classified as class ‘pure’. Rivers Yuryuzan and Bolshaya Satka were described as ‘fairly clean to contaminated’. The research shown the possibility of laying fiber optic cable in the given places.
