WATERPROOF MORTARS REALIZED WITH SILICA FUME AND SPECIAL ADDITIVE

ABSTRACT
This paper presents the experimental researches to obtain waterproof mortars. These special mortars are realized using next materials: cement (C), silica fume (SUF), a special waterproof additive (HS), sand (S), water (W) and superplasticizer. The special waterproof additive with the name Hidrostop-S is produced by Society Setico from Timisoara, Romania. The waterproof additive is a stable aqueous emulsion of alkaline salts of monocarboxylic acids. The water absorption in function of mass is between 2.5% to 3%. At 28 days, the tensile strength is between 5 N/mm2 to 7 N/mm2 and compression strength is between 16 N/mm2 to 31 N/mm2. These types of special mortars are used like waterproof mortars.
