ABSTRACT
The Pudlov Gravel Pit is located in the Moravian-Silesian Region, approximately 12 km from the regional city of Ostrava. This deposit is owned by KAMENOLOMY ČR s. r. o.
The first part of the article explains general concepts related to this issue. These are concepts such as a secured deposit, a plan to secure quarries and the end slope. The following part deals with characterization of geology and hydrogeology of the gravel pit. The main part of the article addresses the problem of the particular deposit, which is currently secured. I describe the reason and method of securing it. The deposit is secured in several aspects, such as protection of the surface against adverse effects (deposit reservation), modification of slopes and bottom of the quarry, modification of dumps and heaps, and the method of checking secured mine workings and surface facilities. The last chapter shows the possibility to open this deposit.
