REDUCING THE IMPACT OF SOLID WASTE POLLUTION USING INERTIZATION

ABSTRACT
This paper presents the inertization solutions used at a worldwide and national level insisting on chemical inertization of the sludge from mine water purification. The sludge resulted from the polimetalic ores mine waters is considered dangerous waste and has to be strictly controlled when deposited. Under the action of some environmental factors and especially of microorganisms, this industrial waste suffers transformations with forming of chemical and acid compounds (especially sulphuric acid) which leads to the impurification of the surface and underground waters. The materials used, in this paper, for the chemical inertization of this waste, are sodium silicate and cement.
