GROUP WINNING BLASTING AS A ROCKBURST CONTROL METHOD – CASE STUDY FROM A POLISH COPPER MINES

ABSTRACT
The exploitation of the copper ore deposits in Polish underground mines is performed primarily by the use of blasting technology. However, technologies based on mechanical rock excavation are also currently under development. To improve the efficiency of rockburst prevention, new technological solutions - applied on a large scale - may significantly improve the effective stress relief of the rock mass. One of the solutions under consideration is to conduct group winning blasting with a specific selection of delays. This would be done in order to amplify the amplitude of rock mass vibrations caused by blasting, which in turn may de-stress the rock mass. This papers objective is to present the method and execution of group winning blasting in KGHM’s mining conditions, and further to present numerical modeling results of the velocity distribution generated by blasting works.
