FREE OF STRESS MASSIF AS A SOURCE FOR DIMENSIONAL STONE DEPOSIT

ABSTRACT
The authors propose a new approach in the study of the prospects for dimensional stone deposits on the granite cratons (the Fennoscandian craton) to find the places that meet the requirements both to the form and size of the blocks and their physical and mechanical characteristics.
The porosity of igneous rocks is defined by the presence of microcracks. Therefore, the intensity of the total porosity index can characterize total number of microcracks in the samples for the period when it was in a solid state and, therefore, allows evaluating the total intensity of stresses in different areas of the massif.
