QUALITY AND TECHNOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF AGGLOMERATESWITH OAK AND PINE SAWDUSTAS A REPLACEMENT FUEL

ABSTRACT
This article deals with the evaluation of the quality of agglomerates in which part of the coke breeze was replaced by an alternative fuel, namely oak and pine sawdust. There was also a change of process parameters during sintering of agglomerates with alternative fuels and their analysis is also a part of this article.
The use of alternative fuels in agglomerate production is presently one of the ways to achieve a reduction in fossil fuel consumption and to reduce its environmental impact. A replacement ratio and appropriate alternative fuels should be selected so that the quality of the agglomerate would remain about the level of the quality of the standard agglomerate.
Oak and pine sawdust were selected as the most suitable alternative fuels, taking into account their local availability, economic criteria, physical and chemical properties.
Experiments have been realized on the model equipment, where the sintering of agglomeration batches containing oak sawdust in a certain replacement ratio took place. Subsequently, sintering of batches containing pine sawdust with the same replacement ratio as in the case of oak sawdust was also realized. A standard agglomerate, i.e. agglomerate without sawdust served for a comparison of the obtained results.
Based on these results it can be concluded that the use of alternative fuels in the agglomeration process has its positives and negatives. The issue of the alternative fuels use in the agglomeration process needs to be developed further to achieve more positive results.
