The landforms overlapped on the structure of the Carpathian orogen from Putna river
basin (county Vrancea) has characteristics strongly influenced by the geological structure.Sedimentological dynamics of strike-slipe basin type, opened during Paleogene due to subduction of East European craton under the Carpathian lands, may explain the petrofacial and tectostructural variations observed in the tectonic semi-windows open in the deposits of Vrancea area and, consequently, geomorphological particularities of the eastern border of the Oriental Carpathians.
Structogenetically, the region belongs to moldavide, namely the Tarcau Nappe, Vrancea Nappe (marginal crease) and subcarpathian nappe. Tectogenesis that have produced major structure are Miocene age: old stiric (deformation), new stiric (produce the overthrusts of the Tarcau nappe and marginal flod to the East) and Moldavian (produce the overthrust of the orogen units over the east-european craton).
The major ruptured system is represented by the traces of moldavic nappes bounding the tectonic nappes on surface: Tarcau fault in west and external fault in east, the tail of plain of overlapping of Gresu digitation over Coza digitation and systems faults of lower orders which affecting the internal structure of digitations.
In this approach we followed the lito- and tectostructural conditionings on the
morphographic and morphometric characteristics of landforms overlapped to nappe of
marginal folds (Vrancea nappe) in the Putna river basin (the mountain sector). Also were taken into account the dynamic geomorphological consequence in the context of
heightened seismicity recorded at the Carpathian curvature and land use particularities. For the assessment of conditionings mentioned were used GIS tools and statistical distributions.
In Vrancea region, the geological factor stands out as being the main control factor in the evolution of landforms. Although in this area there are all types of lito-structural
landforms, by far the most impressive is the landforms of the napped structures and
petrographic landforms especially on sandstones and conglomerates.
