ABSTRACT
The main purpose of this work is the petrophysical characterization of natural stones the slates of Foz Côa (FC). The studied area is located in Northern Portugal, at Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (TMAD) region, geologically located in Central Iberian Zone (CIZ) corresponding to an Autochthonous Terrain and belong to Desejosa Formation, included in the Douro Group of Lower Cambrian in age. Macroscopically, there are two main types of slates: the oxidized slate (XO) brownish to yellowish in color and the black slate (XN) richest in organic matter.
