Kosovo can be considered as an area rich in a variety of building materials, including decorative and dimension stone as a special type of construction materials. According to the trend of exploitation the world’s natural stone industry production is projected to increase from 116 million tons in 2110, to 320 million tons in 2025. So the paper will try to provide an overview of Kosovo’s decorative and dimensional stone resources and development potential.
The explorations of decorative and dimensional stone begin from the year 1932 and continue at certain stages until today. The methods which are applied for this study are earlier exploration studies, field observations on each visited site for this kind of stone resources and analysis of all needed parameters.
This paper shows the potential resources that Kosovo possesses in the natural stone industry. The results obtained from the exploration are very encouraging which is confirmed by the good start of exploitation of these rocks of some local and foreign companies.
The vast quantities of unexploited decorative and dimensional stone resources of Kosovo are unknown to the world, and not enough known to the rest of Europe. The types of decorative and dimension stones which occur in Kosovo, and especially the marbles, are of particular interest for their colour, attractiveness, and the variety of combinations of colours and patterns.

Keywords: 1. Kosovo, 2. decorative stone, 3. dimensional, 4. resources, 5. development potential.
