ABSTRACT

In the context of the expansion of the phenomenon of globalization, the role of urban settlements in the world economy becomes everyday more important, the increase of economic competitiveness and quality of life becoming major objectives of public policies at national and local level. Industrial activity is the most dynamic element and with the most tangible repercussions on the life of a city. The present article captures the main issues underlying the development of policies and strategies of industry localization, highlighting the importance of the elements of the natural environment in the development of industry in an area.
