COMPUTER SIMULATION OF CASTING PRODUCED BY INVESTMENT CASTING TECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT

Computer simulation of casting makes visible foundry events, which go on ingate system and in by pouring of mould with liquid metal and by its solidification. The production of high quality castings requires the use of modern computer programs. Computer simulation has became an essential tool for the assessment of the correctness of castings construction and ingate system in modern foundries, whereby we are able to make their operative changes before the start of casting production.
One of the advanced technologies of castings production is the production by lost wax investment casting process. This technology is applied where with a regard to the complex shape of the product, or hard machining material, the production of other technology is impossible.
In this contribution the issue of computer simulation of casting produced by investment casting is solved, where the ingate-feeder system has an important role. Computer simulation can give us the answers to the correctness of its designed construction.
