The article describes the foraminiferal zones between Visean and Serpukhovian stage in Big Karatau. In the zones of Visean allocate Endothyranopsis compressa -
Paraarchaediscus krestovnikovi, Eostaffella proikensis - Asteroarchaediscus,
Eostaffella ikensis and Eostaffella tenebrosa. In Serpukhov tier detected complex area
Neoarchaediscus parvus. According to new data in thin sections revealed
Janischewskina delicata. Given foraminiferal zones of different sections Big Karatau.
The best studied sections in the north-western part of the Big Karatau (Zhankurgan,
Aktobe, Akuyuk, Zhertansay, Ushozen etc.). The development and revision of
biostratigraphic units sediments Big Karatau authors is not complete, and require
additional exploration of foraminifera and other organic residues in individual
stratigraphic levels to a simple answer to the problems.
In connection with the division of Visean substage two upper-visa is held on the sole
area Endothyranopsis compressa - Paraarchaediscus krestovnikovi. Area
Endothyranopsis compressa - Paraarchaediscus krestovnikovi stands in section
Zhertansay, "bottom", Zhankurgan, Akuyuk, Ychozen and Aktobe. Area Eostaffella
proikensis - Asteroarchaediscus recorded in the same cuts. Updated set of zones
Eostaffella ikensis met sectional Zhertansay, Zhankurgan, Akuyuk, Ychozen and
Aktobe. Area Eostaffella tenebrosa allocated sectional Zhertansay. Depleted zone
complexes were found in sections and Zhankurgan Akuyuk.
Thus, as noted above, is necessary to continue studying the border visa-Serpukhov
interval in Big Karatau, especially the lower limit of the Serpukhov tier. Definition of
its position and GSSP selection among the priority tasks, on which work with 2002
International Working Group of the Subcommission on Carboniferous Stratigraphy of
the ISS.
