ABSTRACT

The article considers the problem of soil pollution of Karabash town. On the town
boundaries there are pyrite deposits with high concentration of heavy metals which
contribute to the pollution of water bodies. Tectonic structure, stratigraphy and
petrography of the territory are analyzed; evaporation processes from the surface of
tailing dam are studied. The analysis is made by the well drilling methods and inverse
voltammetry.

Keywords: heavy metals, syncline, anisotropy, banded iron formation, alluvial deposits
