ABSTRACT

The aim of this research study is to develop a standardized structure model for the
national address system (Kosovo). This will require a geographical address system with
road and street names, address numbers, address codes and coordinates to be used for
the entire of a country. The data content should be according to International best
practices. Therefore, this Component will consist of but is not limited to the following
research activities: definition of standards, construction of a model and other relevant
analysis needed for the GIS application. In line to do develop a workable address
standard, all local needs, restraints, and data applications will be considered throughout
development of the standard. The study aims to propose a common idea as a basis for
the standard, to maintain compatibility with other datasets across the world. However
should the standard need to be customized to include the specific needs of Kosovo, this
shall be done in such a way to maintain the ability to easily transfer and interrogate data
across the world, whilst remaining compliant with INSPIRE standards.
