CLIMATE CHANGE TENDENCIES UNDER GLOBAL WARMING CONDITIONS IN GEORGIA

ABSTRACT

Based on the 90 meteorological stations 1936-2008 year period data, multiyear change
regulations of air temperature and atmosphere precipitation have been investigated
under global warming conditions. The geoinformational maps of monthly and annual
temperature also precipitation annual and seasonal sum change rate have been
constructed. The temperature and precipitation change has heterogeneous-mosaic
character in Georgia under global warming conditions, that is caused by the complex
physical-geographical basically orographic and landscape-climatic conditions of
territory. The largest sites of severe warming in eastern Georgia are - Gudamakhari and
Kharuli Ridges, southern part of Kakheti Ridge and Javakheti Plateau. The moderate
and slight warming centers are in Western Georgia, mainly Svaneti, Lechkhumi and
Egrisi Ridges. On the small part of Georgian territory temperature has been
insignificantly changed and cooling is detected basically in western Georgia. The
severe cooling has been taken place in most parts of Adjara and near Sokhumi.
Precipitations are mostly reduced.
