ABSTRACT

Due to the situation on the job market in Slovakia at present, many of our future
graduates can hardly predict the sphere of their professional activities. Therefore, the
author of the paper outlines a conception for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course
specially designed for the students of the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies of the
Technical University of Kosice. The paper also emphasises the idea of „tailoring“ study
materials for technically oriented study branches and specialisations of the faculty. The
presented ESP textbook will be included into blended learning program that is being
realized at the Department of Humanities of the Faculty of Faculty of Manufacturing
Technologies of the Technical University of Košice in Slovakia.
