MINING TECHNOLOGY WITH DRILLING-BLASTING OPERATIONS

ABSTRACT

During ore mining, drilling operations are among the most important working
operations in the mining process and they represent approximately 30 % of the total
labour required. The level of drilling operations also determines the selection of mining
method and substantially influences the final economy of rock disintegration by means
of blasting operations. During the implementation of bench blasting the costs of drilling
operations including the depreciations from machinery represent 25 - 45 % of the total
costs of bench blasting. By adding the costs of driving energy, which represent a further
10 - 15 % of total costs and maintenance and repair costs, which represent 5 - 10 % of
total costs, we get 40 - 70 % of the total cost ratio.The stated data confirm the
importance of drilling operations during mining of ore or another economic mineral
which shall be disintegrated by means of drilling-blasting operations.
