EFFECT OF PHYSICO-MECHANICAL PROPERTIES ON THE SPECIFIC ENERGY OF DIAMOND SAWBLADES IN ROCK CUTTING

ABSTRACT

The specific energy (SE) is one of the most important performance indicators in sawing
processes with circular diamond sawblades. An experimental study was performed to
investigate effects of physico-mechanical properties on the SE. The relationships
between physico-mechanical properties and SE were investigated. Results indicated
that, among the physico-mechanical properties, density, ultrasonic velocity, Schmidt
hammer hardness and microhardness were determined the dominant rock properties
affecting SE.
