ESTIMATION OF POSSIBILITY FOR SUSTAINABLE RAISED BOG’S USE IN REGION OF EXPLORATION OF SOLID MINERAL DEPOSITS

ABSTRACT

Significant surface flow redistribution is the result of solid mineral deposit exploitation.
North taiga region is characterized of high bogging level. Raised bogs of north taiga
region are subjected to surface flow redistribution. Woodless raised bogs of the Russian
north were historically used as routes of track-type cross-country vehicles. Nowadays
vegetation and soil cover of raised bogs are characterized with significant level of
disturbance. At present time, raised bogs are used as receivers of the surface and ground
water excess of deposit exploitation. Traces of track-vehicles are the additional factors
of surface and soil flows redistribution. The research shows that sampled bogs were
characterized with significant disturbance degree. The track-vehicle traces of different
age were discriminated. Mossy cover disturbance, caused by track-vehicle traffic may
reach 1 meter by depth and 300-500 meters by width. Disturbed area percent of the
individual bogs reaches 30-52%. Sustainable land use of raised bogs of deposit
exploitation area in north taiga region requires significant actions of mossy cover
disturbance consideration.
