ABSTRACT

The article deals with numerical analysis of oedometer tests and high-rise building in conditions of Bratislava focused on time development of settlement. Numerical calculations are processed in finite element geotechnical software Plaxis. Oedometer tests was modelled in first step, with using six material models (Linear elastic, Mohr-Coulomb, Hardening Soil, Modified Cam Clay, Soft Soil, and Soft Soil Creep). Oedometer tests was realized on samples with four different moisture. There was achieved the effect of soil consistency on the suitability or unsuitability of the material model. Results of oedometer tests was compared with results of numerical models with using six material models. Subsequently was created numerical model of high – rise building (building of Manhattan on Račianska street in Bratislava). Foundation gap is located 12 m below the level of surrounding terrain. Subsoil is created by Neogene soils, which are also modelled with using different materials models. The impact of used material model was monitored on vertical deformation and time development of settlement. These results were verified with results of geotechnical monitoring.
