SOME MODERN ASPECTS OF DISTANCE LEARNING

Zhechkova, N.
Abstract:
Today, distance learning does not surprise anyone, most of the educational institutions of various levels abroad, to one degree or another, use distance technologies in the pedagogical process. Many students today consider this form of education as an alternative to the usual one, not only when receiving a second education, advanced training, but also choose this method for obtaining the first higher education. There is nowhere to go from current trends, and many universities understand this and are trying to develop in this direction. Distance learning, like any other form of knowledge, has many of its advantages and disadvantages. A significant drawback is the lack of a centralized system of certification and accreditation of electronic courses, which results in a lot of "crafts", loudly called electronic courses and electronic textbooks, but in reality they are ordinary word files. An important factor hindering the more intensive implementation of distance technologies in the educational process is the lack of motivation of university teachers to work in this direction. Perhaps the reason for this is the high complexity associated with the creation of methodological materials for distance learning, but here you need to realize that in the future the time and effort should be offset by a reduction in time to complete some of the usual types of teaching workload of a teacher. Distance education is a general term that includes a number of teaching and learning strategies used by correspondence colleges, open universities, distance learning departments of ordinary universities, and distance learning departments of private sector organizations. Thus, this term is used to mean the education of those who, for one reason or another, prefer not to attend ordinary schools, colleges or universities, but to study at home. attend regular schools, colleges or universities, but study at home. One of the most comprehensive definitions is Keegan (1996), which proposed six key defining elements of distance learning. He noted that distance education is characterized by the separation of student and mentor as opposed to personal learning, the influence of the educational organization that distinguishes distance education from private learning, the use of technical media, such as print, audio or a website, to unite the teacher and student two-way communication, so that the student can conduct a dialogue with the teacher, the possibility of random meetings for the purpose of interaction and the student’s self-directed nature.
