Abstract:
This article presents the results of an integrated model for the Saban field which located in the Omar main fields at the eastern of Syria. The field is some 11 km by 3 km orientated in NW-SE direction with 33 wells drilled into three main reservoir blocks (Block 101, 102 and 103) developing the Rutbah cretaceous and Mulussa Triassic reservoirs. The field is in production since 1990. The purpose of this model is to guide future development well drilling to optimize reserves and extend field life. The input data includes core logging, sedimentology analysis and well logs. The study was able to quality check and reassess the basic technical data in an integrated model in order to provide an improved and consistent understanding of the facies, porosity, permeability and saturation modelling and distribution in order to provide an improved and consistent understanding of the water flood pattern and to develop representative communication maps between injectors and producers by having a consistent structural and simplified fault pattern evaluation using the interpreted dataset. Static structural, facies and property models were generated for the field. The object facies modelling was combined with Sequential Gaussian Simulation of porosity to give a 3D facies and facies-based reservoir property model. The dominant facies type at the reservoirs was defined as clean sandstone, muddy-sandstone, overbank fines and the igneous facies. To generate a facies based petrophysical description of the Saban field, a method of net sand definition involving the use of core oil stain tied to wireline log data.
