Abstract:
The risk assessment of an organization is stipulated in international standards and in a variety of international and national laws and reglementations. In the context of the obvious environmental problems and incidents with disastrous effects for the environment of the past 50 years, industrial and business environment recognizes the importance of environmental risk management and its applied. In the process of the environmental risk management, the risk assessment and risk treatment plays a crucial role in the continuous improvement of the environmental impact of the organization. Since the environmental risk assessment it is not an easy process is useful the knowledge of simple and effective methods of risk analysis. More accurately determination of the two factors who characterize the risk, the likelihood and the consequences, can be big time and resources consuming without having the guarantee of obtaining the desired results. In this case a quick and simple assessment can be done using the risk matrix method. This method can also precede a more laborious method if it is considered necessary. The paper presents various options for setting the risk matrices from the simplest to those which allow a numerical calculation of risk. It also presents a case study using this method and presents examples of environmental risk analysis using this method. Results relevant to environmental risk assessment method risk matrices are obtained when the matrix shows at least five classes for the severity of the consequences and a minimum of five classes for likelihood.
