IMPORTANCE OF SELECTING PARAMETERS OF GEORADAR PROFILES IN KARST AREA

Ortyl, L.; Karczewski, J.; Mazurkiewicz, E.
Abstract:
The article presents the results of test georadar measurements performed in the test area of Zakrz?wek in Krakow (Province of Ma?opolska, Poland). The studied area is located on limestone formations, with numerous structures of karst origin (caves, sinks, sinkholes). A number of tests were carried out in the field with the use of ProEx System and RAMAC/GPR CU II of the Swedish company Mala GeoScience. Shielded antennas, with the frequencies of 100, 250, 500, 800 and 1600MHz, as well as unshielded antennas, with the frequencies of 50, 100 and 200MHz, were used for the tests. During the performed surveys, the following measurement parameters were varied: sampling frequency, number of samples, number of stacks and distance between traces. In order to obtain high location repeatability of the georadar measurements in individual tests, the location of the profiles was determined using surveying techniques. The measurements were carried out with a GNSS RTK satellite receiver, mounted on georadar antennas. The Wide Angle Reflection and Refraction (WARR) and Common Mid Point (CMP) tests were performed to determine the propagation velocity of the electromagnetic wave at the geological strata. The article analyzes the influence of the measurement parameters on the quality of the recorded georadar image, as well as the relationship between the frequency of the antennas used, and the range and resolution of the measurement.
