DETERMINATION OF WATER INFLOW FROM DESIGNING BOREHOLES, DRAINAGES OF THE UNDERGROUND WATER RESERVOIR ON THE EXAMPLE OF SELECTED POLISH COAL MINE

Abstract:
In the underground mining there are many sources of water hazard. Among them, there are water hazards from underground water reservoirs, located in old workings. Mine water inflow from such reservoirs can occur within a few seconds. Within the moments of a sudden and large water inflow, it is most often impossible to withdraw a crew from an endangered front of a mining excavation. In order to eliminate existing water hazard, exploratory boreholes drainages of water reservoirs are performed. In this paper the authors present determination of water inflow from designing exploratory boreholes, drainages of the underground water reservoir. For this study the underground water reservoir, located in old workings of the selected Polish coal mine of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB), was chosen. In result of the map’s analyses, the drilling parameters for the planned drainage and the water inflow from the reservoir were determined. The design of water inflow from boreholes was performed in stages, according to specific parameters of drilling. At each stage of the design drilling, the lowered water table of the water reservoir was shown. The water capacity of each part of the reservoir and the time of its drainage were determined. The design of drainages of the underground water reservoir presented in the article allows for safe digging of the mining excavations, located significantly close to the underground water reservoir. The drainages of the underground water reservoir were designed with the use of AutoCAD program.
