METHODS FOR INCREASING THE STIFFNESS OF A GRID FOUNDATION

ABSTRACT

The object of this paper is represented by the analysis of a grid foundation for a light reinforced concrete structure. The need for this kind of analysis was imposed by the foundation ground conditions. In the case of sites presenting differentiate foundation ground conditions in the perimeter of a construction it is necessary a detailed analysis of the foundation conditions of the site and also, the behavior of the ensemble of the entire structure. So, is stent an adjustment of the foundation solution to the site’s conditions and also, carrying out a complex calculus in which it must be taken into account the co-operation between structure-foundation-foundation ground. The site was investigated by borings and dynamic cone penetration tests. The site investigation program emphasized that the foundation ground consists partially of a non-homogeneous filling composed by a mixture of unconsolidated soils and materials resulted from demolition of a pre-existing construction. In this paper are analyzed and compared more variants of grid foundation systems conceived as being composed by main beams and secondary beams. For this infrastructure were calculated the bending moments, the shear forces and the pressures transmitted to the foundation ground. From technical and economic efficiency point of view, the analyzed foundation solutions were compared for different 4 (four) variants.
