GEOTECHNICAL RISK ASSESSMENT VIA EXPERT POLLING METHOD ON THE STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS

ABSTRACT

Stage of construction works is responsible for the most part of risks, emerging during construction project. Violation of technologies of construction works, unsatisfactory quality of construction materials leads to additional costs of an amount equal to the cost of alteration of works. Each violation on the construction site on itself leads to insignificant damage, however, their frequency and complication at further stages entails a much larger aggregate damage. That’s why qualified construction management personnel plays a key role in ensuring the reliability of the structure. Efficiency of construction management personnel can be significantly enhanced by implementation of well-designed system for identification, analysis and elimination of technological risks and their factors on the site.
Expert polling method implies collection of information about risks by using personal experience of people, professionally involved in related field. This method is used in cases, where there is a high degree of uncertainty and lack of statistical data. Implementation of this method is justified, as construction works are tied with high level of uncertainty and information about risk occurrence often does not reach official statistical records.
