ABSTRACT
The main purpose of the research presented in this article is to investigate and understand the influence of the size distribution of coals suspension on intensification of the sedimentation process.
The experiments were done in sedimentation balance and with the use of diffractometer methods. Research includes also the impact of the application of ultrasound to separate fractions of coal suspension.
The particle size distribution of solid phase of coal suspension were verified by SEM/EDS method. The different shapes of grains were identified in distribution of tested suspension.
Addtionally the chemical and phase composition were determined. The chemical composition was determined by spectrometric method. The phase composition was determined by X-ray diffraction technique.
The results of physico-chemical properties of coal suspension allow to investigate and understand the problems encountered during the sedimentation process of a coal suspension and develop guidelines to intensify the process of sedimentation. Presented results are the basis for further research sedimentation process of coal suspension.
