ABSTRACT:
The theory of plane laminar jet is generalized for case of the
turbulent motion based on works of V. Tolmin. Differential equations of the boundary
layer of the plane submerged jet, together with the continuity equation, are solved by
introducing the apparent (virtual) kinematic viscosity. To integrate the obtained system
of equations, the flow function is used. Characteristic kinematic parameters are
expressed in terms of the kinematic jet momentum. Task of the jet distribution is solved in MathCAD software environment. As a result, the kinematic characteristics are defined, including the longitudinal velocity on its axis and the transverse (radial)
velocity component. Mathematical models, which allow to study the influence of the
turbulent jet on the plunge basin depth depending on the jet axis slope angle and the
scour velocities permissible under adhesion conditions according to N. A. Tsitovich, are implemented in MathCAD. Comparison of the theoretical model calculation results with experimental data showed convergence sufficient for engineering calculations.
