ABSTRACT
This region is situated in the North-Eastern part of Romania, in the centre of the Suceava County, with particular transitional conditions between mountain region and plateau region. The natural ecosystem was modified in time by the agriculture expansion that produced land use changes. The soil fertility factors are specific to this transition and are influenced by the cool and wet climate and the properties of parental material. The soil properties that contribute to the soil fertility require appropriate methods for increase harvests and, in the same time, to keep an ecological equilibrium of the soil evolution and human impact. The chemical properties of the soils showed to us the level of the main elements (NPK) and the differences between fertilised soils and the unfertilised soils, in experimental plots.

Keywords: The Suceava Plateau, sustainable agriculture, nutrients, crops rotation
