This work deals with the contamination of agriculturally used soils by mobile forms of selected heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Cu a Zn) in region Hont – alluvium of the river Štiavnica in Slovak Republic. The obtained results suggest that low content of organic matter in the soil leads to greater mobilization of risk elements. According to the criteria to assessing of humus content in the soil we can conclude, that 46 % of observed soils belongs to the slightly humic soil (low humus content), 29 % among medium humus soils (medium humus content) and 25 % among highly humic soil (high humus content). Based on the criteria for the evaluation of the soil reaction we can conclude that 13 % of observed soil has extremely acid soil reaction, 8 % has strongly acid, 25 % has acid, 50 % slightly acid and 4 % has a neutral soil reaction The comparison of obtained results of heavy metals quantity with adequate highest permitted limit defined by legislation in SR and EU was done.
The obtained results indicate that the most contaminated soils were fluvial and cambisols and in 14 of 24 monitored stations the critical value for Cd (0.1 mg/kg) was exceeded, and in 7of 24 monitored stations the critical value for Pb (0.1 mg/kg) 1.6 to 510 times. In this work we evaluated also the content of mobile forms of Cu and Zn. In 3 monitored stations the critical value for Cu (1.0 mg/kg) 1.21 to 18.6 times was exceeded and in most of sites (13 of 24) the critical value for Zn (2.0 mg/kg) 1.5 to 91 times.
