ABSTRACT

This paper presents out researches in the area of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
and geovisualization. As one of the results, we will present a solution that consists of
geodata styling document repository and editor. This solution is a part of a larger GIS
interoperability platform – GeoNis. As a language used for creating geographic data
styling documents, we have chosen Symbology Encoding (SE) language proposed by
the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) organization. Integrated Symbology
Encoding Editor helps users easily create styling documents. Also, each user has the
possibility of sharing its styles with other users. Created styles can be downloaded and
used in combination with different services to create maps. Presented solution is
intended to provide GeoNis interoperability platform the ability to represent geographic
information gathered from different sources in a uniform manner.
