ABSTRACT

Research presented in this paper is a part of our ongoing work on GeoNis framework.
GeoNis is framework for interoperability of GIS applications in local community
environment. In this paper we introduce an approach for automatic generation of objectoriented
model for handling ontology instances stored in relational databases. Central
part of this approach is an algorithm that transforms application ontologies into
appropriate object-oriented model. Using this approach we have developed a Data
Access Layer Generator tool that automates the process of generating translator/wrapper
components for GeoNis framework. The usage of this tool significantly facilitates the
process of including new GIS applications into GeoNis interoperability framework.
