ANALYSIS OF POSSIBILITIES TO REGISTRATION TLS POINT CLOUDS WITHOUT TARGETS ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE CASTLE BRIDGE IN RZESZOW

ABSTRACT
LiDAR technology has become in recent years a rapid and widely available method to obtain spatial information. Final data sets from TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanning) is dense and very precise. This technology is therefore indispensable to register objects with complex shapes and large sizes. The disadvantage is the need to place on each of the scan special targets. This markers allow to register separate scan positions into one project. For more complex objects connecting adjacent scans may be solution, but this affects on the accuracy of the total registration for the project. The alternative is the "network" connections between scans, however, causing an increase in field work. The best solution is to automatically connect point clouds without targets. This method, however, requires specialized software and high PC computing power. In this paper possibilities of registration point clouds without targets were shown. The results were presented on the Castle Bridge example in Rzeszów.
