ABSTRACT
Main criteria of commercial significance of rich iron ore deposits of Belozersky area were studied: distribution regularities of iron ore, mineral composition, quantitative and qualitative characteristics of ore reserves, complexity of geological structure, and mining conditions of exploitation. We have been evaluated iron ore deposits as unique for Ukrainian reserve base because of quality of ore. Almost 60% of ore reserves are rich and contain more than 60% iron and do not require separation and enrichment. Within Belozersky area there are three deposits - North Belozerske, South Belozerske and Pereverzivske deposits. They are characterized by different degrees of geological, technical and economic study. It was defined complexity of their geological structure and possibility of further industrial exploitation. It was also studied resource indicators and possibility of ore reserve growth. This allowed making conclusions about the stages of depletion of these deposits. The most explored and perspective is Pereverzivske deposit which is in the initial stage of exploitation.

Keywords: high-grade iron ore, commercial significance, reserves evaluation, martite-hematite ores, Ukraine
