ABSTRACT

Nowadays, when the amount of exhaustible energy resources in the world are reducing
and their prices are increasing proportionately, mankind tries to find alternative sources
of energy.

Use of solar radiation has huge potential in the future. Already today, the sunlight is
transformed into heat or electric energy. For the conversion of solar energy into
electricity we are using photovoltic cells. The Slovak Republic is in the use of
photovoltaic systems on the tail in the European Union. Electricity produced by
photovoltaic panels can then be used to drive pumps in the heating or cooling systems.

In this article we focus on the interaction between the photovoltaic system and heating
system, under certain weather conditions in the city of Košice in Slovakia. A closer look
at how weather affects the efficiency of photovoltaic panels.

As part of this research, there was developed methodology to calculate the amount of
produced electricity, which is directly based on measured weather conditions for the
city of Košice during the last years.
