ABSTRACT

People use mobile technology and the Internet in their industry and day-to-day life to connect with friends, people in their city or from all over the world. Nowadays they can share their current location with their friends via the Location-based Social Networks. These Social Networks are becoming increasingly popular and the data from the devices supporting these networks can indicate the movement of people in real-time and thereby the dynamics of cities and evolution over time.
In this work we study the movement of people, who are using the Foursquare. People use this application to share location information with their friends. Wether they are in restaurant, in railway station or in which museum. However, they also use it to recommend which places to visit. We have recorded 35 users from 1st October to 30thNovember 2012 in Olomouc City, Czech Republic. According the results, we can see how users spent their time during the week, which places are the most popular, or compare the movement of 20 and 40 years old users.
