DIGITAL PHOTOGRAMMETRY FOR PRODUCTION OF TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS AND ORTHOPHOTOPLANS

ABSTRACT

The high-resolution images have always attracted much attention in creating and
updating topographic information due to the large capacity of the digital
photogrammetric systems. In this paper the main approach for updating urban
information using digital photogrammetry and GIS data are described. The necessity of
creation of new laws and technical specifications, concerning this process, is presented.
Traditional working methods replaced by new technologies and their large efficiency
are discussed. A short technology for creating topographic maps and orthophotoplans
by using different sources is presented. Finally a question is whether satellite imagery
will replace airborne (digital or analogue) photography for maps production.
