COMPARISON OF RESULTS OF DIFFERENT POLARIMETRIC SAR DATA DECOMPOSITION PROCEDURES

ABSTRACT

In the presented paper results of different polarimetric decomposition procedures were
compared. Both types of decomposition were analysed: coherent (Pauli, Krogager) and
incoherent (Freeman, Yamaguchi and H/A/α). The obtained results were confronted to
each other as well as to the optical image of studied region. The possibilities and
constrains of identification of different scattering mechanisms for each selected
decomposition procedure were discussed. The analysis was done for the subset of
TerraSAR-X full-polarimetric SAR image representing the south of Berlin and its
neighbourhood.
