AIRBORNE GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY IN THE REGION OF ARTANA (KOSOVO)

ABSTRACT

Artana’s region in metallogenic terms is one of the most interesting and rich region with
polymetals like Pb, Zn, Ag, Mn, Fe, Bi, Cd, St, Au in the Republic of Kosovo. In
geological term is constructed from a variety of geological formations formed from
Paleozoic age until today. Most important geological formations of Artana for which are
thought to be created mineral deposits are of Tertiary age, which are represented by
felsic/intermediate volcanism andesitic-diorit, and old felsic magmatism siliceous
granitic. Although the area of Artana are finished many studies and geological,
metallogenic, geophysical researches, the purpose of this paper is to deepen these
studies in light of the aerial geophysical survey conducted during 2006-2007 in the
territory of Kosovo, which until this day is not taken any scientist. Usually works on
early research in the area of Artana have been limited to the area known deposits and
included limited local area. This work will include a wider area of about 100 km2 for
which we provide geophysical air measurements finished in 2006. The data collected
are three areas of geophysical measurements: aeromagnetic data, aero electromagnetic
data and aero radiometric data. In this work would be addressed only certain aspects of
aero-magnetic data on the Artana region.
